Labor Day was instituted as a day of rest for working people. Slackers are also equally free to enjoy a work-free Monday! Perhaps we can chalk up our hard-working American reputation to Puritan roots, or maybe we just enjoy the thrill of the race? Either way, it's no secret that folks in the United States work long and hard-and take pride in doing so. Celebrated on the first Monday in September, Labor Day provides a rare three-day weekend and unofficially marks the end of summer and the beginning of school in many states. Camping, picnics and a chance to enjoy the last of the sunny days all come to mind when Labor Day weekend rolls around. |
